Y EXPERIENCE
In 2022, the Cité du Train, SNCF heritage museum, is offering you several days of discovery of the professions of driving railway vehicles with a period of practice on the tracks of the museum!
Did you know that it is up to the line driver to check his engine himself before placing the train at the head? Or that rail traffic is subject to special signage that you have to master at your fingertips?
For a day, and whatever your knowledge, come and discover this fascinating world accompanied by enthusiasts: the volunteers of the Cité du Train.
THE YOYO OF MANEUVERS
For shunting service in stations or serving private branch lines, small low-power diesel locomotives are used: shunters. Their frequent back and forth on the lanes, and their serial number beginning with Y earned them the nickname "yoyo".
On the occasion of these days of discovery, it is on this equipment - equipped with a "Cité du Train" livery - that you will be able to do your classes, accompanied by volunteers from the museum.
SCHEDULE OF THE DAY:
-
10 a.m.: Welcome coffee, presentation of the museum and its missions
-
11 a.m.: Theoretical training on driving professions (safety, signaling, behavior on the tracks, etc.) and explanations on the operation of a Y 7100 shunter.
